Azarenka in women’s final

9 January 2009, by Brisbane International Tennis

Victoria Azarenka is the first player to book a place in the inaugural Brisbane International women’s final.

The tall No.2 seed from Belarus was too strong for Italy’s Sara Errani. Azarenka won their semi in straight sets, 6-3 6-1.

Azarenka will meet either No.3 seed Marion Bartoli or No.5 seed Amelie Mauresmo in Saturday’s final.

Bartoli and Mauresmo will meet in the final match of the day session at Pat Rafter Arena.

Next up is the men’s quarterfinal between Czech Raded Stepanek and Swede Robin Soderling.
