Six Grand Slam champions will headline the Brisbane International 2017 presented by Suncorp in the richest field of talent the tournament has ever seen. For the first time, five of the world’s top ten women and five of the top ten men have signed on to compete for the crown.

Grand Slam champions Rafael Nadal (ESP), Stan Wawrinka (SUI), Angelique Kerber (GER), Garbine Muguruza (ESP), Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) and Sam Stosur (Qld) are amongst the superstar line up set for Brisbane.

WTA Finals champion and world No.5 Dominika Cibulkova (SVK), US Open finalist and world No.6 Karolina Pliskova (CZE) and world No.9 Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) join world No.1 Angelique Kerber (GER) and French Open champion Garbine Muguruza (ESP) in the women’s field.

In the men’s draw, Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal will be joined by defending champion and world No.3 Milos Raonic (CAN), US Open champion Stan Wawrinka (SUI), Kei Nishikori (JPN), Dominic Thiem (AUT) and Australia’s Bernard Tomic and John Millman.

Canadian superstar Eugenie Bouchard will make her debut in Brisbane as will world No.21 David Ferrer (ESP).

Brisbane International Tournament Director Geoff Quinlan said the chance to see some of the world’s top 10 male and female tennis players in Brisbane is beyond exciting for fans.

“Brisbane fans are in for a thrilling week of entertainment with the confirmation of our best field yet signing on for 2017,” Quinlan said.

“We are seeing so many of the world’s top players returning year after year, which is a testament to how much the players love the event and the fans. Add that to the quality of talent headed to Brisbane for the first time this year and no doubt we’re in for something special.”

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said the high calibre of players heading to Brisbane was a coup for the tournament and for Queensland tourism.

“The 2017 Brisbane International’s amazing line up will focus the world’s attention on Brisbane in January showcasing the city to a global audience,” Ms Jones said.

“The Brisbane International is a significant part of Tourism and Events Queensland’s world-class events calendar, which generates economic and tourism benefits for the state.”
