Jelena Dokic

Country: Australia Seeded:
Plays: Right-handed Age: 26
Turned Pro: 1998 2009 Ranking: 57

From the highs of the Australian Open quarterfinals to the lows of having to retire injured in the second round of the French Open, Jelena Dokic experienced it all in 2009.

The hard-hitting Australian commanded the tennis world’s attention with her emotional return to the world’s top 100 before injury and illness threatened to cut the ride short. After taking some time out in mid-2009, Dokic made a welcome return to form at the end of the season winning an ITF event in Athens and making the final of another.

Why the old photo? I'm sure she'll crash out of Hobart too. All of these losses by good players are very suspicious. I doubt the 11 double faults were legit. Wta tournaments badly need replay cameras on all courts. Imagine a very fit player like Anna chakavatadze getting destroyed by an old 40 plus player who wasn't much in her own era. I'm not buying these beat downs. The modern games needs replay systems for all courts. How about HD cameras?

Jelena, your one of my most favourite players- remember ranking is only a number- your tennis is great. Have the best of luck at the Australian Open.

You're disappointed Jelena and you should be.
Talent + tactics = winning tennis matches.
If you only knew how many people are willing you to win all the time.
    Best of luck in Hobart.
Just do it Jelena. Yes you can!
  • Today was the first important step in a great summer ahead for our Champion Jelena Dokic. At times we were all mesmerised by some of the ground strokes you played out there. Consistency was the only difference between victory and defeat today. I felt you lost the match, Ana didnt win it. I know you and your team will work on all aspects of your game that prevented a win today and you will be primed for your 1st Rd match at the 2010 Australian Open. The battle begins 18January in the first Grand Slam of 2010 and I know between here and Hobart you will put all the troubles behind you, learn from your matches and move forward in Melbourne.
Very Proud as always and with unwavering faith that the best is still ahead for our Champion Jelena Dokic!!
    GO JELENA GO!!!

I agree Jelena has been lucky to have an strong oponent in her first match in Brisbane. That way the rest of her tournament it will be like sliding down the mountain. But no relaxing, because there will be rocks on the way. Good luck!
  • I firmly believe that Jelena will have a better summer in 2010 than she had last year. She finished the year strongly in 2009 with ITF Wins in Athens and Poitiers and a Runner up at Jous Le Tour and is more than ready to Win her first WTA Tournament in Brisbane.
The Brisbane Tournament is a stepping stone for another assault on the 2010 Australian Open and a opening match against Ana Ivanovic is a great way to start the Australian Summer of Tennis for Jelena.
    GO JELENA GO!!!
Heres to your first victory in 2010 and another summer to remember!!!

I think Jelena has a great chance to win her first tournment of the year in Brisbane. I hope she doesn't have any physical problem. Out of this, she will be a finalist without any doubt. Anyway, Happy New Year from Spain!
