Ticket holders travel free on selected TransLink services

Ticket holders can travel free to and from the Brisbane International with TransLink on Queensland Rail train and Brisbane Transport bus services. Pre-purchased event tickets are available for travel on TransLink event shuttle buses, Queensland Rail train and Brisbane Transport bus services on the day of the event. Event tickets purchased at the Queensland Tennis box office at the venue, on the day of the event, are only valid for free post-event travel.

 

Travel options for people with a disability

There will be complimentary maxi taxi shuttles available for people with special needs and their carers. The maxi taxi shuttles will operate every day of the tournament between Yeerongpilly train station and the Queensland Tennis Centre.

Car parking is available for patrons with a Queensland Disability Parking Permit (Red) or an Australian Disability Parking Permit (Purple). Bookings are essential and permits must be obtained prior parking at the venue.  Bookings and information can be obtained  by calling the Brisbane International office on (07) 3120 7930.

A blue label disabled car park sticker is required for all bookings and must be displayed on the car with the Brisbane International parking pass at all times to avoid parking fines.

Queensland Tennis Centre Parking Restrictions

During major events at the Queensland Tennis Centre,  one hour parking restriction apply throughout the precinct  from 7am to 10pm (on event days only). For further information please visit the Brisbane City Council Traffic and Parking Control Areas’ website.

Q: Which train station do I travel to?

A:  There are two options.  If you live along the Beenleigh and Gold Coast train line, the closest station to the Queensland Tennis Centre is Yeerongpilly, a short 15 minutes walk away.

If you are travelling on the Ipswich, Caboolture or Shorncliffe train line, Corinda is the closest station to the Queensland Tennis Centre. Event bus shuttles will operate between the station and the Queensland Tennis Centre.

Q: On which operators is free travel to the 2012 tennis event available?

Q: Can I travel free to the event if I am buying my ticket at the venue?

A: No. Event tickets purchased at the venue, on the day of the event, are only valid for free post-game travel on QR and Brisbane Transport services.

Q: How far is the walk from Yeerongpilly train station to the Queensland Tennis Centre?

A: The walk from Yeerongpilly train station is between 10 and 15 minutes or approximately 700 metres.

Note: As a comparison, the walk from Milton train station to Suncorp Stadium is about 5 to 10 minutes.

Q: Will there be shuttle buses from Yeerongpilly train station?

A: Maxi taxi shuttles for people with special needs will be available from Yeerongpilly train station to the Queensland Tennis Centre.

Q: Who qualifies as ‘special needs’ for a maxi taxi shuttle?

A: For the purposes of this event, those people with special needs have been defined as persons with a disability, the elderly and their carers.

Q: Will there be a cost involved for using the maxi taxi shuttles?

A: There will be no cost involved for event goers using the maxi taxi shuttles.

Q: Will there be bus shuttles from Corinda?

A: Yes, shuttle buses will operate to and from Corinda train station

Q: Why aren’t services going to Tennyson train station?

A: Direct services between Tennyson and the city stations (for connections with other lines) are irregular. Passengers would be required to transfer at Corinda to get to and from the Tennis Centre. Tennyson train station is not considered a safe venue for large crowd numbers.

Q: Are there bus services available?

Q: What about car parking?

A: There is very limited parking around the centre, and parking restrictions will apply throughout the event. TransLink encourages all patrons to make use of the free public transport offer available on event bus shuttles, Queensland Rail train and Brisbane Transport bus services.
