Jarmila Gajdosova was announced today as the second Australian to join the Brisbane International line-up.

Gajdosova joins a star studded event, which includes world No.3 Novak Djokovic, world No.6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Spain’s Davis Cup star, Fernando Verdasco, world No.5, Ana Ivanovic and Queensland’s own Samantha Stosur.

Gajdosova’s win, in Taipei this October, earned her direct entry into the Brisbane International. She told brisbaneinternational.com.au that she was excited to be representing Australia at its newest event, the Brisbane International.

“I fell in love with Australia on my first trip to the Australian Open as a 14 year old and it is my adopted home.

“I have been based in Australia for several years and I am looking forward to representing the country in tennis.

“The Brisbane International will provide a fantastic opportunity, in the lead up to the Australian Open, to test my skills against some of the best players on the circuit in a new state-of-the-art-facility.”

Brisbane International Tournament Director Steve Ayles said he is pleased to have another Australian in the line-up.

“Gajdosova has been in great form in 2008 with wins in Gimcheon, Korea, Kawana and Traralgon in Australia and in Taipei, Taiwan.

“With her strong return and backhand, she is a welcome addition and no doubt will be a crowd favourite.”

Currently ranked No.99, Gajdosova is a member of the Australian Institute of Sport program and hopes to one day represent her adopted country in the Optus Australian Fed Cup team.

Gajdosova’s career-high ranking was No.64 in September 2006, after reaching the third round of the US Open, the second round at Roland Garros and the first round of the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

In the past year she has won four events and was runner up in Rockhampton, Australia and in Tokyo, Japan.

Tickets are now on sale for the Brisbane International through Ticketek, with reserved stadium seating starting at just $24.90.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketek.com.au or 1300 888 104.
