Seventeen-year-old Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis has become the second Australian teenager to qualify for the Brisbane International 2014 main draw.

Kokkinakis joined Queenslander Ashleigh Barty in the main draw when he trumped China’s Di Wu in straight sets on Monday, 6-1 6-4.

The world No.628 used his big serve and heavy ground strokes to take control of the match from the outset, surprising his Wu with his attacking instincts.

The unexpected win – Wu is ranked 420 places higher than Kokkinakis – means Kokkinakis will make his ATP main draw debut this week in Brisbane.

Ryan Harrison has joined Kokkinakis in the main draw after fighting back from an early deficit to defeat Japan’s Tatsuma Ito. Harris lost the opening set 6-1 before finding his groove to take the match 1-6 6-3 6-0.

The other players to qualify for the main draw are Japan’s Yuichi Sugita and Marius Copil of Romania.
