The first final of a jam-packed Brisbane International weekend has been decided, with the women’s doubles pairing of Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) and Galina Voskoboeva (KAZ) overcoming Mandy Minella (LUX) and Chanelle Scheepers (RSA) 6-3 6-4 in their semifinal today.

Mladenovic and Voskoboeva will take on the team of Alla Kudryavtseva (RUS) and Australia’s Anastasia Rodionova in an unseeded women’s doubles final, after they recorded a convincing 6-2 6-2 win over Australians Olivia Rogowska and Monique Adamczak on Thursday.

Showing their worth on the doubles court, singles specialists Mladenovic and Voskoboeva continued to dominate today after upsetting top seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik in the quarterfinal.

Both teams in the women’s final are yet to drop a set in the tournament.

In the remaining men’s doubles quarterfinal, second seeds Daniel Nestor and Mariusz Fyrstenberg saw off determined Australian duo Matt Ebden and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The second seeds required three sets to end their challengers’ run, 7-5 4-6 [10-8].

Nestor and Fyrstenberg will play third seeds Jamie Murray and John Peers in the semifinals on Saturday.
