ATP and WTA get behind flood relief

9 January 2011, by Brisbane International Tennis

Following the lead of Sam Stosur and Andy Roddick, the ATP and WTA are getting behind flood relief, pledging to donate $10 for every ace during the Australian summer.

The devastating Queensland floods now cover an area the size of France and Germany combined and have caused billions of dollars in damage and forced hundreds of thousands of people out of their homes.

This week Stosur pledged to donate $100 for every ace she served at the Brisbane International, an initiative that Roddick generously matched, the Brisbane International also added $5000 to the cause.

Now, with the ATP and WTA’s contribution, it’s expected that more than $40,000 will be raised for the Queensland  Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
