Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the Brisbane International due to an ankle injury.

The Russian was due to play at the Brisbane International for the first time in 2012 and is extremely disappointed she will not be making the trip to Queensland.

“I was really looking forward to starting my 2012 season at the Brisbane International, which has a fantastic reputation as a great and welcoming event,” Sharapova said today.

“Unfortunately my ankle is not 100 per cent and I won’t be able to make it this year.

“I do expect to be ready for the year’s first Grand Slam and I am really looking forward to competing on court.”

Bugger, I really wanted to go to the Brisbane International. But when I found out she was playing I decided against it as I couldn’t justify spending thousands of dollars to listen to a banchee screaming & spoiling the experience. What a shame she didn’t pull out earlier.

You are so wrong. She actually sound and looks hot and I’d pay her thousands for private lessons. Mmmmm.

Would love to have a close shave with sharapova, the queen of the gilette close shave. Does she need any massage work on that ankle, or other areas perhaps?

The opening tournament of the year is full of speculation, conjecture, hopes,
    predictions,etc. It’s ON!!!
So, while one of the true champions of weekly/daily/set-ly(?) comebacks
won’t be justifying her screech for this debut, I will follow the action with the zeal of someone watching a tennis match that Maria isn’t in(kidding!)

I fully support the WTA. And, the field is as wide open as it has been for some time!
As to Ms. Sharapova, I wish her a speedy return. Rest the ankle, the vocal chords, the “C’mon!”
    Beyond that….”C’MON!!!!!”

    We already miss you.
