3 January 2013, by Brisbane International Tennis

For the second year in a row, Andy Murray has had to battle through a three-set opener in his Brisbane International campaign, this time against hometown qualifier John Millman.

A vocal Pat Rafter Arena crowd carried Millman, rank 199th coming into this tournament, as he took it to the world No.3 and current US Open champion.

Murray prevailed 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in 2h and 5mins to reach the quarterfinals where he will face Lleyton Hewitt’s conqueror Denis Istomin.
